Why Music Together?

As musician parents, Debbie and Tom searched long and hard to find a rich musical program for their own children. After trying several different programs, a music school (that doesn't offer Music Together oddly enough) recommended that they try Music Together. It was flexible, musically superior (can we say that?) and allowed parent and child to explore as they felt comfortable. Not to mention that is was great to get out of the house, meet other families and bond with our children.

Music Together® is an internationally acclaimed music program for children, ages birth to four, and their parent/caregiver. Our mixed-age classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so. Music Together's nine song collections have hundreds of songs so a child can take class for three (3) years and always get new music!

Children will explore a variety of musical styles in a playful, non-performance oriented environment. Classes involve lots of adult participation! Weekly, 45-minute classes include songs, rhythmic chants, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability.

In a Music Together class you can:

  • Sing New and Familiar Songs
  • Dance and Move to the Beat
  • Bounce, Wiggle, Tumble and Get Silly
  • Play with Rhythm Sticks
  • Float and Dance with Scarves
  • Jam on the Floor Gathering Drums
  • Swirl the Jingle Bells
  • Shake the Egg Shakers
  • Plus, a Whole Lot More...

With your class tuition you get one (1) songbook with the lyrics, melody, chords & pictures along with two (2) music CD's (one for the home and one for the car). The perfect way to start off with music!

What About Preschoolers?

The great thing about Music Together is that it can be adapted for a group of older children just fine. A good teacher (and we have plenty) will naturally guide students toward activities that are within their reach. The music in every collection is wonderful for 3-5 year-olds and they can start to really embrace deeper musical concepts.
